Laura Gachupin is one of the leading potters from Jemez Pueblo.  This is one of her classic melon jars. The jar has 32 ribs. They are divided into four sections with eight polished red, then eight tan, then eight red, and then eight tan.  The tan is the natural color of the clay.  It is in every good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom, “Laura Gachupin”.
