This bowl by Gloria Garcia is fully polished and etched with a Mimbres-inspired design. The piece is fully polished and fired red. The rim has a mountain design. The sides have stylized buffalo etched into the clay. Below one of them is a lightning bolt. It was traditionally fired a deep red. It is signed on the bottom with her Tewa name “GoldenRod”.

Gloria Garcia

Gloria Garcia (b.1942) is the daughter of Petra Gutierrez and a sister of potters Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez, and the mother of Jason Garcia. Gloria is known for her intricately incised miniature pottery. Gloria has won numerous awards for her pottery over the years at Santa Fe Indian Market and has pottery in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
