This is a small seedpot by Gloria Garcia.  It is fully polished and fired red. The design is a Pueblo bird etched into the surface of the clay. The bird has clouds, rain, lightning, and mesa designs creating the “feathers”.  This piece is signed on the bottom with her Tewa name “GoldenRod”.

Gloria Garcia

Gloria Garcia (b.1942) is the daughter of Petra Gutierrez and a sister of potters Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez, and the mother of Jason Garcia. Gloria is known for her intricately incised miniature pottery. Gloria has won numerous awards for her pottery over the years at Santa Fe Indian Market and has pottery in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
