Greg Garcia was known for his use of classic Santa Clara forms for his pottery.  He learned to make pottery from his grandmother, Severa Tafoya, and also worked closely with his sister, Tina Garcia.  This jar has a wide shoulder and a short neck with a turned-out rim. However, what makes it interesting is the indention at the shoulder before the neck. The clay has to be pushed downward and creates an area that can crack during drying or firing. The jar is fully polished red and traditionally fired.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Greg Garcia”.
