Jessie Garcia is one of the great names in Acoma pottery.  Between 1950 and 1970, she along with Lucy Lewis and Marie Z. Chino, led the revival of Acoma pottery.  This wedding vase is a classic shape with a “rain” handle (three lines of clay). The body of the wedding vase has Acoma birds and rain clouds as the design.  It is painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay. The piece was traditionally fired. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Jessie Garcia”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
