This is a tightly carved mini jar by Tammy Garcia.  It is from 1994.  The jar has a high shoulder and a short neck.  It is deeply carved around the center with cloud, rain, and wind designs.  They flow across the surface of the vessel. The entire piece is fully stone polished, which is amazing with the small angles of her carving!  Tammy said of her early pottery:

“When it comes to designing a piece, I reflect on my ancestors who made pottery, and it seems like one of their purposes in designing pottery was to record their history.  You can look at a pot, and it’s almost like a book in the sense that it can tell a story of what was going on during their time.”

It is not often we see a piece of her work this small or this tightly carved!  A classic miniature!  It is signed, “Tammy Garcia”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
