Virginia Garcia is a sister of noted potters Tina Garcia and Greg Garcia.  While she no longer makes pottery, much like her siblings, she was known for her traditional forms and creative firings.  This is one of the largest pieces we have had of her pottery. The jar is coil-bult and fully polished.  There is a double shoulder or “Rainbow Ridge” on the jar.  It is where the clay is pushed out from the interior.  Ther are two bear paws impressed into the clay before firing.  It is fully polished and fired a dark black coloration. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, ‘Virginia Garcia”.
