Barbara Gonzales is a great-great-granddaughter of Maria Martinez. She is known for her innovative pottery, which combines etched designs along with inset stones. This is a classic round bowl, much in the form-style of Maria. The bowl is fully polished. It is etched with rain clouds around the rim of the piece. The bowl was fired black and two-toned sienna around the rim and on the clouds. There are four pieces of coral inset onto the piece. The bowl is signed in the clay, “Than-Moo-Whe”, which is her name in Tewa. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
