This bowl by John Gonzales is from 1998.  John was well known for his plates and intricately etched designs.  This bowl is matte red and tan. Most of the bowl is matte red. There is an etched medallion on one side with a feather pattern and a tightly designed avanyu. There is a single inset piece of turquoise and the medallion is surrounded by a band of shell hei-shi beads.  The background area which has been etched away has a micaceous clay slip.  The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the back, “John Gonzales”.
