Eddie Goodman is a son of noted Navajo potter Louise Goodman. She was known for her folk art style bears as well as her distinctive corrugated pottery. This large bear is coil-bult and the fur is textured into the piece. It is unusual but distinctive with the open mouth. It was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface and then covered in pinon-pitch in a traditional manner for Navajo pottery. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “EG”.
