Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This jar has a low shoulder and tall sides.  This is a great shape by Denny to not just focus on the feathers, but also the polishing.  It is fully polished and painted with very tightly painted feathers.  There are 32 feathers encircling the jar.  Note how they are painted at a slight angle.  There are rain designs above and below the feathers.  The jar is polished to a glossy shine.  It is from 1987.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
