Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This jar has sloping sides and it is fully polished.  It is painted with 32 feathers encircling the jar.  They are separated into two sections with additional designs. One section has a cloud pattern.  The other section has mountains and rain.  The lines are all tightly painted before the piece was fired.  The jar is very highly polished and fired a deep black coloration.  It is from 1986.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
