Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls along with his black-on-black painted pottery. This jar is a more traditional piece of his work. The jar has a narrow base and a sharp shoulder. There are feathers painted on two sides along with classic cloud and rain designs. The jar is very highly polished and fired a deep black coloraiton. It is from 1991. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
