Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This is a classic shape with a high, round shoulder.  It is one of the larger pieces of his we have had in the gallery.  The bowl is fully polished and painted with 32 feathers.  Separating the two sections of feathers are two stylized bear paws.  Note how the feathers are painted at a slight angle.  The bowl is polished to a glossy shine.  It is from 1988.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
