Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This is one of his distinctive redware pieces.  The has a low shoulder and a sloping side.  It is fully polished.  The jar has 26 feathers painted on the polished surface before it was fired. Note how they are at a slight angle.  The piece was fired a strong red coloration.  The symmetry of the jar and the precision of the painting is exceptional  The jar is from 1986.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
