Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  However, he also created exceptional painted vessels. This jar has a wide, sharp shoulder and a sloping neck.  It is fully polished and painted with very tightly painted feathers.  There are 36 feathers encircling the jar.  Note how they are painted at a slight angle.  In four sections there are delicately painted rain and cloud designs.  The jar is polished to a glossy shine.  It is from 1991.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
