Dorothy Gutierrez was married to Paul Gutierrez in 1965 and, together, they began making pottery.  Paul passed away in 2017, but their animals and figures are classics of Santa Clara pottery.  This is a group of carved and polished traditional Santa Clara pottery by Dorothy.  One bowl has carved bear paws, the other has the “walking bear paw” design, and the third has a triangular opening with carved lightning designs.  Each is fully polished and traditionally fired black.  Each is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Dorothy Gutierrez”.  Each is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
