Virginia Gutierrez was of the few polychrome potters from Nambe Pueblo. She was known for her experimentation with various clay slips.  This is a massive bowl that is round in shape.  The bowl is painted with a corn maiden figure on one side. Around the remainder of the bowl are seven sun figures.  The are all painted with various colors of clay.  There are six different colors of clay used on the piece.  It is signed on the bottom, “V. Gutierrez”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
