Virginia Gutierrez was of the few polychrome potters from Nambe Pueblo. She is known for her experimentation with various clay slips. This bowl is round and painted with a sunface on four sides. The sun has tightly painted feathers surrounding the face. They are separated by triangular cloud designs. There are four different colors of clay used on the piece. It is signed on the bottom, “V. Gutierrez”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
