Virginia Gutierrez was of the few polychrome potters from Nambe Pueblo. She was known for her experimentation with various clay slips. This is one of her few highly polished pieces. It is simple bowl fully polished red. The top is painted with black and red clay slips to create a rain and cloud design. It is signed on the bottom, “V. Gutierrez”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

It is painted with a sunface on one side. The sun has ten large, bold feathers surrounding the face. There are six different colors of clay used on the piece. It is signed on the bottom, “V. Gutierrez”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
