Andrew and Judy Harvier work together on their pottery as “NaNa Ka”, which translates as “Aspen Leaves” in Tewa Indian language. Judy is a sister of noted potter Debra Duwyenie.
Andrew Harvier and Judy Harvier work together under the name “Nana Kaa”, which means Aspen Leaves in Tewa. Judy is a sister of noted potter Debra Duwyenie. This bowl is coil built and stone polished. It has an avanyu (water serpent) incised near the base. Around the center are cloud designs. Near the neck are etched feathers and more deeply carved traditional clouds. The bowl was fired a deep black coloration. The piece is from the 1990s and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed, “Nana Kaa” on the bottom.
