Andrew Harvier and Judy Harvier work together under the name “Nana Kaa,” which means Aspen Leaves in Tewa. Judy is a sister of noted potter Debra Duwyenie. This is one of their clay buffalo fetish figures. It is made from native clay and fully polished. Andrew etches the designs into the clay. There are raised buffalo horns and etched fur. The top is incised and has an inset piece of turquoise. The piece was fired a deep red coloration. The piece is from 1995 and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed “Nana Kaa” on the bottom.
