Homer, Robert Allen – Black and Sienna Seedpot with Five Quail and Star (1998)

This seedpot is by Robert Allen Homer.  He is a Zia and Hopi, and is a son of Marie Moquino and a nephew of Corn Moquino.  It was Corn Moquino (Santa Clara) who taught him to make pottery.  This piece is coil-built, stone polished, fired, and etched with design.  There is a star on the top and five quail etched around the side of the piece.  The seedpot was fired black and then two-toned sienna. It is signed, “RH”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
