Howato, Ramon – Jar with Eagle Tail Designs

8"w x 5.5"h

$ 700.00

Ramon Howato is a son of noted potter Diana Tahbo.  He learned to make pottery from his uncle, Mark Tahbo.  This jar is coil built, painted with bee-weed and native clay slips, and traditionally fired.  The jar has tightly painted eagle tail designs extending down to the shoulder.  They are painted with bee-weed (black) and red, and white clay slips.  It is a striking use of design.  The jar was traditionally fired.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Ramon Tahbo Howato” and a pipe, as he is “Tobacco Clan”.
