This is an unusual jar by Pat Iule (b. 1956). She began making pottery in 1984 and is a daughter of Robert and Pauline Iule.  This jar is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay.  The jar is round with a bird head. The bird head is slipped red and brown.  The body of the jar has a complex interlocking design that is meant to represent the bird feathers.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “P. Iule”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
