Marietta Juanico (b. 1964) is a daughter of Frances Concho and a sister of Norbert Patricio.  She learned to make pottery from her mother.  She is known for her traditional style of pottery.  This is a classic “triple canteen”. The piece is coil-built and painted with bee-weed and clay slips.  It is a complex shape with three chambers that are joined together though hollow spaces.  One side has Tularosa swirl rain designs.  The opposite side has larger sun designs.  There are small handles joining the lobes. It is amazing that pieces like this can even be created and not crack in drying or firing!  The piece is signed “M. P. Juanico”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
