Marcella Kaha (1916-2008) was the daughter of Emma and Hale Adams, and the sister of Ramona Ami. She was the mother of Karen Kahe-Charlie and Samuel Kahe. She was the mother-in-law of Gloria Kahe. She began making pottery in 1940. She was part of the Butterfly Clan and lived in Schomovi on First Mesa. She was known for her traditional Hopi pottery. This small jar is coil-built and stone polished. It is painted with bee-weed (black) and highlighted with red clay. The jar has a star pattern on top. Around the shoulder are panels with birdwing and cloud designs. It was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface. The bowl is signed, “Marcella Kahe”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
