Kahe, Val – Tile with Hopi Bird
Val Kahe is a daughter of noted potter Gloria Kahe. She is known for her intricately painted pottery. This tile is made in the older style of Hopi-Tewa pieces. It is a bit thicker and fully polished. The design on the front is a Sikyatki style bird. The designs are painted with bee-weed (black) and a red clay slip. The tile was traditionally fired. It is signed on the back, “V. Kahe”.
