Jennie Laate was among the most important revival potters at Zuni in the 1970’s.  This is an unusual smaller jar.  It is painted with swirling Rain Birds around the neck of the jar and around the sides.  The birds are filled in with thin lines. The jar was traditionally fired, which created the distinctive coloration.  These are classic design elements that are seen on classic Zuni vessels of the late 1800s.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Jennie Laate”.
