Laate, Jennie – Large Bowl with Shalako Katsina Interior (1970s)

Jennie Laate was among the most important revival potters at Zuni in the 1970s. This is a large open bowl. It is made with Zuni clay and fully polished. The inside is painted with a Zuni Shalako Katsina. It is a detailed design and there are cloud patterns around the rim. The exterior has additional classic Zuni rainbird and cloud patterns. It is a creative shape and complex design. It is signed on the bottom, “J. Laate”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair but some discoloration near the base.
