Edna Leki (1924-2003) was known for her Zuni fetish carvings.  She was a daugher of noted carved Teddy Weahkee.  Edna’s daughters, Lena Boone and Dinah Gasper, and son, Anderson Weahkee, are also well-known carved.  This is one of her classic Zuni fetish bowls.  It is a classic shape and the exterior is covered in turquoise chips.  The inside is black and has corn meal.  There are eight large fetishes tied onto the outside and four inside.  They are made from travertine, Picasso marble, and turquoise.  There is one smaller orange alabaster fetish on the inside.  The piece Is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  I had the opportunity to meet Edna many times through her daughter Lena Boone.  They would both come to Estes Park each summer for a Zuni Fetish show.  Her fetish bowls are a classic!
