Charles Lewis is a grandson of Toni Roller and a son of Susan Roller.  He is a great-grandson of Margaret Tafoya.  While he no longer makes pottery, his pieces from the late 1990s were beautifully made, carved, and polished. This jar has a wide shoulder and an elongated neck. The piece is deeply carved on the top of the shoulder with a lightning pattern. The background area is slipped with the traditional cream-colored clay.  The piece is highly polished and fired a deep red coloration.  It is signed on the bottom, “Charles Lewis” and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  The piece was made in 1997 when he was 25 years old.
