Dolores Lewis is a daughter of renowned potter Lucy M. Lewis. Dolores is known for use of classic Acoma and Mimbres designs in her pottery. This is one of her few canteens. The piece is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black). The canteen has a Mimbres-inspired frog on the front, along with rain and cloud designs. It is signed on the back, “Dolores Lewis”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. The piece was traditionally fired so there are color variations on the surface.
