Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This bowl is fully painted with four Mimbres fish encircling the piece.  They are each painted with lighting designs and highlighted with additional red clay.   Much of her imagery is inspired by the ancient Mimbres pottery of the 1100s.  The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Emma Lewis”.  It is dated 1971.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
