Lewis, Emma – Pitcher with Mimbres Fisherman (1970s)

3"w x 4.25"h

$ 175.00

Emma Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  This is a pitcher with a handle extending from the rim to the shoulder.  The pitcher is painted around the neck and the central design is a Mimbres fisherman with fish on a pole and a net to the side.  The Mimbres pottery was made in southern New Mexico around 1100. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Emma Lewis”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It has one small area of spalling.  The base is very round so I have placed it on a lucite ring for stability and the ring is included.
