This is a classic style water jar by Eric Lewis.  It has a high shoulder and a short neck. The jar is fully painted and there is a stylized dragonfly on one side.  It is a bit different in his style with the painted designs in the wings. The result, however, is striking!  The remainder of the jar has bird and cloud patterns encircling the piece in a graphic style.  It is a complex piece in design yet the imagery flows perfectly across the surface and matches the shape.  The strong graphics on Eric’s pottery give them a modernist appearance. However, look closer and you can see a variety of traditional designs that he has used for the designs that are all based on traditional Acoma patterns. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Eric Lewis 2020”.
