This is a classic water jar by Eric Lewis. It is coil-built and has a round shoulder and a short neck. The jar is fully painted with designs. This jar has an owl as the central design. The owl consists of geometric and negative spaces of the designs. The remainder of the jar has swirling wind and forest designs. The strong graphics on Eric’s pottery give them a modernist appearance. However, look closer and you can see a variety of traditional designs that he has used for the designs that are all based on traditional Acoma patterns. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Eric Lewis 2022”.
