Eric Lewis is known for his creatively painted Acoam pottery.  This jar is entitled, “Through the Leaves”.  The jar is an elegant shape with a strong shoulder and a short neck. The graphic is a hummingbird on one side.  As the piece is turned, there are designs representing tree branches and where the hummingbird would be building a nest or see flying through the leaves of a tree.  The strong graphics on Eric’s pottery give them a modernist appearance. However, look closer and you can see a variety of traditional designs that he has used for the designs that are all based on traditional Acoma patterns. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Eric Lewis 2022”.
