This is a complex large jar by Diane Lewis-Garcia.  While she is known for her miniatures, this large jar captures her dynamic painting style.  The neck of the jar has a checkerboard pattern.  Around the sides are a parrot, hummingbird, turkey, and crane.  They are each tightly painted and colorful . Separating them are large diamond shaped plant designs with fine-line patterns and bands of solid colors.  The jar is intricately painted with various clay slips and complex designs.  The jar has a beautiful flow of imagery as it is turned.  All the various colors are natural clay slips.  It is an exciting modern interpretation of classic Acoma imagery.  The jar is signed, “D. Lewis-Garcia”.
