Diane Lewis-Garcia is known for her tightly painted miniature pottery. This is one of her very intricately painted seedpots. The top is painted with a very detailed Acoma bird and flower. Note the use of both fine-line and checkerboard patterns. Surrounding the bird is a complex flower petal design using various geometrics. The seeppot has a variety of colors, each from natural clay slips. It is signed on the bottom, “D. Lewis-Garcia”.

Diane Lewis is a daughter of Kathleen Lewis and a sister of noted potters Rebecca Lucario, Marilyn Ray, Judy Lewis, and Carolyn Concho. She is known for her miniature pottery and the use of traditional and Mimbres imagery. She has won numerous awards at the Heard Museum Market and Gallup Ceremonials over the years.
