Lewis, Lucy – Clay Bird Roadrunner Figure (1960s)

2.25" long

$ 195.00

Lucy Lewis is one of the great Matriarchs of Pueblo potters of the 1900s.  She was an important revivalist of Acoma pottery throughout her career. This is one of her small clay bird figures.  It is probably a roadrunner.  It is elongated in shape and painted with bee-weed and red clay slip.  It was traditionally fired.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Lucy M. Lewis”.
