Lewis, Mary – Plate with Acoma Interlocking Birds and Corrugated Rim

Mary Lewis was a daughter of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis.  She was never as prolific as her sisters Emma, Dolores, and Carmel. The plate a classic Acoma interlocking bird design. Next to the birds are rainclouds.  The rim of the plate is “corrugated” or impressed with a triangular design and painted with red clay.  It is signed on the back, “Mary D. Lewis”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
