Joseph Lonewolf began making pottery in 1970-1.  This is a classic piece of his pottery that was fired black.  On the top are four medallions, each with a different Mimbres frog. The back of each frog is different in design.  Separating the frogs are small circles etched into the clay.  There is also a small Mimbres inspired bee etched near the edge.  All the sgraffito design work was done before the seedpot was fired black.  The remainder of the piece is highly polished.   The precision of the designs and the shine of the polished surface create a perfect balance.  This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Joseph Lonewolf”.
