Lonewolf, Joseph – “Mountain Fox” Seedpot (2001)

3" wide x 7/8"h

$ 6,400.00

This is an extraordinary larger seedpot by Joseph Lonewolf from 2001.  It is a complicated with piece with intricate work on the top of the piece.  Joseph wrote of this piece:

“Adorning this clay seed-pot creation is a rare gray mountain fox perched on a grassy plateau ledge during a wintry-day hunting foray.  Symbols of strength, the two large black-tipped white eagle feathers – One adjoining the ledge where the fox stands, and one depicted against the wintry-gray background – guarantee the fox a successful hunt.  The two colorful macaw feathers denote brighter days ahead once the snow storms have passed.  Bordering the edge is the pathway of life and destiny.  Encompassing the entire underside is a highly polished red slip symbolic of Mother Earth.  The two medallions, a “Sunflower” is in memory of his father Camilio. and a “Dasiy” in memory of his mother (Agapita).  The geometric and spiked design denotes the travel routes of the fox”.

The detail on the fox is simply spectacular!  It is difficult to capture with the camera, but it is almost as if you can see each individual hairs on the body of the fox!  The various clay colors are derived from natural clay slips.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay.  It comes with the original card typed by Lonewolf with the description.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
