This is a large and spectacular jar by Rosemary Lonewolf.  It is perfectly round and fully polished.  The top has a swirling wave and star pattern.  The piece is entitled “Mimbres Dreams”.  Encircling the large seedpot are large Mimbres animals, including a rabbit, turkey, fish, bee, antelope, and inchworm.  What makes the piece so charming is that there are Mimbres Riders on the backs of nearly each of the animals.  There are both male and female riders.  There is also one flute player.  Each of the figures is highly detailed and they are accented with blue, green, and white clay slips.  In the background of the piece, there are wavy horizontal lines that are matte red (where just the polished surface has been etched away!).  Phenomenal!!  There is so much design and imagination on this piece!  The background matte area consists of little circles on the top, which Rosemary only did for a few years, as it was so time-consuming.  The piece is meant to tell the story of the continuation of Mimbres designs in the modern world.  It is a strong and powerful piece by Rosemary.  The seedpot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Apple Blossom”.  Definitely an important piece in Rosemary’s pottery career!
