This is a large multi-color seedpot by Rosemary Lonewolf.  She learned to make pottery from her father, Joseph Lonewolf.  This piece is fully polished and designed.  It has a great design with a realistic deer on one side with a fawn near the base.  Behind the deer is a pine tree and as the piece is turned, “Mother Earth”.  Note how she is coming out of the earth and Rosemary also etched a face into the earth.  Mother Earth is reaching toward a Mimbres deer and fawn.  There is something delicate and gentle about the bending of the figure towards the deer with the evergreen in her hand!  Near the base, Rosemary has etched a band meant to look like embroidery on the edge of a shawl.  She etched at multiple levels to give the design depth and even look somewhat like cloth.  After the firing, the colors were added and there are green, white, and blue clay slips.  The seedpot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Apple Blossom”.  While Rosemary no longer makes many traditional-style pieces of pottery, her miniatures remain a classic!
