9.5"w x 6.5"h

$ 600.00

Virginia Lowden (b. 1936) began making pottery in the 1950s.  She is a granddaughter of Lupe Chavez and a sister-in-law of Mary Lowden.  This large jar is coil-built and painted with bee-weed.  The jar is a graceful shape with a wide shoulder and a short, sloping neck. It is painted with a plant and rain design.  The contrasting open space with the fine-lines is exceptional giving the jar a very modernist appearance.  This jar was traditionally fired so there are some slight color variations to the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “Virginia Lowden”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
