Larry Ben Manygoats is a son of Betty Manygoats and a brother of Rita and Elizabeth Manygoats. Each piece is made using traditional Navajo clay. He was taught to make pottery by her mother. This is one of his iconic clay figures. It is a horse with a sculpted head. It is painted to resemble a pinto horse. The horse was traditionally fired to create the blushes on the surface. After the firing, it was covered in pinon-pitch in the manner of traditional Navajo pottery. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “L. Ben” It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
