This is a classic plate by Maria Martinez.  It was made by Maria Martinez and painted by her daughter-in-law Santana Martinez (the wife of Adam Martinez, Maria’s son).  It is very highly polished and has a glassy surface.  The design is a feather pattern which encircles the plate.  There are 46 feathers on the plate.  It was fired to a near-gunmetal coloration.  The plate is signed on the back, “Maria + Santana”.  The jar is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  The two photos of the plate at an angle are with a full turn to best show the full surface of the plate in good lighting.
