This is an unusual wide shoulder jar by Santana and Adam Martinez and their granddaughter, Barbara Gonzales.  Barbara said it was one of only 3 or 4 she made and signed Santana and Adam. The jar was made and polished by Santana, who also painted the feathers.  Barbara said she remembered filling in some of the feathers on the jar.  On the bottom side, there is an incised flower by Barbara, inset with a piece of turquoise.  The jar was traditionally fired a glassy black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom, “Santana + Adam, Than-Moo-Whe”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Definitely a piece of history!
